    • Guess who’s feeling better!! 😆🙌💚 Thank you all for your incredible love & support during my last flare. I’m so very grateful to have such an amazing community following me on my journey. I’m so happy to be out of bed! Yesterday I was able to walk three miles (saving snails on the sidewalk as I went 🐌) & gave my apartment a good cleaning 🧼 I honestly enjoy cleaning, which my parents find strange lol, but I love organizing & taking care of my space ... though I would very much love a space for my art where I didn’t have to worry about getting paint everywhere. In high school I wasn’t so clean & ended up painting the walls, getting paint of the carpets, staining the master tub with red paint, & getting paint on the red bricks of the house ... also ended up getting pretty out of it on spray paint & glue while working on a project since I never thought of opening up a window 🙈 Lol I remember blasting heavy metal rock, while spray painting cardboard & then thought it would be cool to pour wax from the lighted candle onto the spray painted cardboard...ended up catching on fire but I extinguished it in the sink. I heard my mom come home & say to my dad “what’s that smell?!” My dad: “Tay’s room”. My mom: “What is she doing??”. My dad: “I don’t know. I’m not going in there...she’s crazy” (PS he said that in a joking manner) 🤣 Well easy to say my mom entered my room finding me high (non-intentionally) with a huge mess. She opened up all the windows and marched me outside where I got a talking to about always having my windows open when doing art - how I could kill my brain cells ... That’s my momma for you more concerned about my well being than the huge mess I had just made. Fun fact: To this day I can’t smell paint, glue, or sharpies 🙈 Lol one day I hope to have a space just for my art with big windows where I can get as messy as I want to! Until then laying out the tarp. Very excited as I get back to my art projects 😆🎨 Creating again!     • Beginning to feel the light come back into me 🙏💚 Yesterday I’m excited to say I walked a mile around my neighborhood, it felt so good to be out of my apartment & enjoy the fresh air along with the sunshine ☀️ I was also able to get my laundry done, do a little bit of cleaning, tend to my succulents, & didn’t nap once! It’s amazing how ones person average day can be another person accomplishing a hell of a lot. A reminder to all of us not to compare each other but to work on ourselves - I know easier said than done at times. When I’m battling through my very sick days I often make myself stay off of social media. The illusion of all the picture perfect squares can really make one crazy with envy. I personally believe we are all dealing with something but it’s easy to forget that when we see so many happy pictures running down our feed. Even my page if you didn’t read the captions who would know I suffered so much with chronic pain & autoimmune diseases? My page is my personal vision board of how I like to see myself - not sick - & my captions are my truth. That’s why I ask for everyone to take time to read the captions of those who you follow when you can for you may connect with a journey you would have missed by just looking at the photo. I love the connections I’ve made through my Instagram. I love the support & love I receive. It’s truly incredible to be connected to so many people around the world. But even so it’s sometimes best to take a break from the picturesque squares. To focus on yourself. And to come back when there is more mental & emotional clarity. Remember it’s ok to take a break. Those who are truly here for you will be here when you get back. Thankful for each of you. Now time for me to take my walk around the neighborhood & build my strength back up ... who knows maybe I’ll get in two miles today, only one way to find out.     • Embrace the little joys life has to offer, they can often be our greatest joys 🌱☀️💚 Thank you all for your amazing love & support while I’m fighting to get over this most recent chronic pain / autoimmune flare up. Today I’m feeling a little better. I’m still very tired but I have felt well enough to tend to my succulents & enjoy the sunshine. I’m hoping to be able to take a nice walk around my neighborhood today since I have more energy & my body needs to move after being sedentary for the last three weeks. I would be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t frustrated & angry from this flare up. It’s difficult to go from feeling great, living my life, hiking, creating art, socializing to being stuck in bed or on the toilet just trying to make it through the day ... remission is always in my hopes & dreams. Until then I’m going to keep on fighting. I’m going to continue researching, learning, & advocating. And I’m going to embrace the simple things in life that are my treasures. Succulents, sunshine, a good book, a nice walk ... a yummy pb&j #itsthelittlethings
    • Breathing in peace, love, & strength. Breathing out a huge FUCK to chronic pain & autoimmune diseases ⁣#flippingthebirdmeditation ⁣ I’ve been having a pretty rough several weeks since my body got hit with a virus which triggered a flare for my chronic pain & autoimmune diseases. I’ve been in rest / fight mode - meaning I’ve been resting while my body has been fighting on the inside for me to feel better. Since this flareup it’s really had me thinking about my health. How it didn’t just start 6 years ago when I was at my sickest but started with childhood. As a baby I had to have tubes in my ears due to having reoccurring inner ear infections. I had reoccurring vaginal yeast infections & thrush mouth for unknown reasons. My baby teeth had no enamel which caused me to be at the dentist constantly to get fillings due to tooth decay (my adult teeth thankfully came in with enamel). I struggled with pooping & having constipation since I was potty trained. At the age of seven I was diagnosed with IBS. Two times I was in the hospital because my poop was backed up so severally (I told my parents I was pooping when I wasn’t). I started on medications at 7. My bladder pain & urgency to go was said to be caused by bladder infections even though my white cell count was normal. I couldn’t eat certain foods - a lot of foods without getting sick. I would sleep with a wet washcloth due to hot flashes & nausea. Remember days I was so tired & I didn’t know why. I missed a hell of a lot of school. I had dizzy spells which later turned into episodes of me passing out along with migraines. My periods were always painful & sickening. If I didn’t eat right when my body told me to my blood sugar would drop low & I would become very ill. Looking back my doctors growing up really didn’t have a clue... I sometimes wonder “what if?”. But 29 circles around the sun later + 9 surgeries / multiple treatments / 20 pounds gained back after losing 40 pounds total / going from so disabled I couldn’t get in & out of bed without assistance to where I am today I know I’m a lot fucking stronger & I will NEVER give up FIGHTING for my health #WARRIOR 💚
    • With my sixth hydrodistention/cystoscopy coming up in June (my tenth surgery in six years) I thought I would share more about this part of my health journey. For those of you who don’t know I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis (IC), chronic painful bladder syndrome, in September of 2013. I believe I’ve always had IC that I was able to manage growing up but it became terribly severe to the point it disabled me when I was 23. I lost 40 pounds when I was at my sickest due to the severity of pain. I tried bladder installations (catheter treatments), various medications, & other treatments to help manage the symptoms. The treatments that made a HUGE impact were cannabis, pelvic floor physical therapy, changes to my diet (eliminating bladder irritating food & uncovering food sensitivities), the Mona Lisa Touch laser treatment, acupuncture, & hydrodistentions. Hydrodistrntions are an outpatient procedure under anesthesia where the bladder is filled to a high pressure with fluid. I have ulcerative IC which means my bladder has ulcers or lesions. My first hydrodistention my bladder was said to look like “meatloaf” & following the first 4 distentions I peed out a lot of blood. Thankfully with my last distention, even though I still had some ulcers, my bladder looked incredibly healthier & I peed no blood. I’m hoping this distention coming up will be just as good. I’m very much ready to have it done. My bladder has been hurting worse lately, more painful bloated days where I feel the need to pee but am unable to go, & then of course have the moments when my bladder does release without giving any notice aka I wet myself. So I think my bladder is ready for the good stretch & cleanup that it receives from distentions. I’ll be honest it’s frustrating for me to have to receive these every year; going under anesthesia, not knowing how my body will respond or how fast I’ll recover, hospital & travel bills ... though the worst is the past traumas of being sick that it triggers in me. Hospitals, being poked at, my parents worried faces behind supportive smiles ... it hits hard. Despite all that I’m thankful that this treatment works to treat my IC 💚 #interstitialcystitis
    • Happy Mother’s Day to my amazing Mommy @carolyn_munholland 😘💚 I’ve always been her little Mini 😆 It’s no wonder why my dad always stops & says “Damn you look just like your mom did when she was young”. Lol it’s true 🤣 We could have been twins! Momma, I love you so very much! Thank you for always supporting & loving me unconditionally. Thank you for taking the plunge into motherhood for Sisy & me despite your own fears of not having a good mother role model of your own or fearing you would be like your mom - which you could never be. Thank you for continuing to live for me & being a mommy to be after Sisy’s passing ... you don’t see how strong you are but living for me was such an incredible strength but now I want you to be able to live for yourself too because you are most deserving of your love. You taught me what it means to be both strong and empathetic, to care but to also not take any shit, to listen but to speak your mind. I’m stubborn like you, I’m feisty like you, I’m driven like you ... so many parts of myself I can thank you for having because you have always been one of my greatest role models. We may not always agree, we may fight, but we never stop loving each other. I love you more than I could ever put into words. I can’t wait to celebrate this special day when I’m home in a few weeks. You are one of my best friends and I can’t imagine my world without you in it. Love you to the moon .... & I love you mostest 💚💚💚 #HappyMommasDay
    • Getting ready for my trip home to Oklahoma to visit my family & friends 💚🤗 And my 6th hydrodistention/cystoscopy for my interstitial cystitis, chronic painful bladder syndrome. Making it my 10th surgery in the last 6 years. The other 4 surgeries were 2 for stuck kidney stones too big & jagged to pass and 2 for ovarian cyst complications, endometriosis, & one of those I had to get my appendix removed since it was rotting. ⁣ ⁣ Recently I’ve been up & down. Had a nasty virus for a week which caused a flare up of all my autoimmune diseases & chronic pain. Which brings me to one of my greatest pet peeves ... someone asking “You’re STILL sick?” ⁣ ⁣ Blessed are those who can get a virus one day & be perfectly well the next. I’ve NEVER been one of those people, probably because of my autoimmune diseases. Since the time I was a little I remember seeing friends & classmates getting these 24-48hr viruses that when I got them I would be down for at least a week. I never had perfect attendance. I was made to feel like I was doing something wrong or being dramatic (not by my family but by onlookers). We didn’t know I suffered from autoimmune diseases when I was little, it would have explained a lot. ⁣ ⁣ Now my thoughts when someone says “STILL sick?” It’s like yes, on a daily basis my body’s immune response attacks itself - it attacks healthy cells for some unknown reason. So my body is in a constant fight & it’s defenses are down against viruses or infections. Most of my conditions are chronic meaning constant, continuing, ceaseless, unabating, unending, long-lasting, persistent - I’m dealing with them unless remission happens. How does remission happen? Different for everyone & not attainable by everyone because even though we may have the same autoimmune disease or chronic condition our bodies are different, the diseases/conditions are similar but not entirely the same for they manifest differently in each individuals body. I know it’s complicated, why we are struggling to find cures. We just all need to be more empathetic. And if someone you know has been sick for longer than you think they should be don’t say to them “STILL sick?” Instead offer support 💚
