Be PERFECTLY IMPERFECT
My “thrashing” practice started around the age of 16. It’s a practice where I fully let everything that I feel is trapped inside me come out through the movements of my body. I blast my music. I dance – exercise – move – yoga – flip the bird lol – THRASH.
This practice has even with me now for 12yrs. I know very well I hold in a lot of my emotions. This is a full release for me.
I remember when I first started doing it. One day I came out of my bedroom & my parents asked me what I was doing each evening when I blasted my music. Without pause I said “I’m thrashing”.
These past six year with my health battle I haven’t had enough energy to thrash physically but I kept the practice mentally. I would lay in my bed. Put on my headphones and blast my music. While I laid there I would imagine how I would be moving, how I would be thrashing if I could. That mental practice continued to help relieve built up emotions.
As you can see I have so much fun when I’m doing this. It’s like a cheerful way of rebelliously saying “fuck you” to the things in life you wish you had control over but just don’t. It’s freeing.
I think everyone could do with some good old fashion thrashing lol
Start by blasting music that EMPOWERS you. I go in the direction of Hard Rock / Metal / Grunge.
And then MOVE your body anyway you want. Just let yourself go. Be.
NO TAKING YOURSELF SERIOUSLY.
JUST RAISE THOSE MIDDLE FINGERS.
AND LET ALL THE BUILT UP SHIT GO!!!
